Lieutenant Richard W. Wiggin was born on January 4, 1940 in Huntington NY. He proudly served in The United States Army for 27 years. A dedicated soldier, a loving father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather. He devoted his life to the people he loved. He understood the importance of family and played an intricate role in the upbringing of his children and grandchildren. The life lessons that he instilled in his family will live on forever. Richard’s legacy reflects words like kindness, respect, honor and dignity. A man with so little when it came to material things, but truly a man with so much when it came to the love and support from his family.
On July 13, 2021 Richard Wiggin passed away at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa Arizona. His wife Joan and two daughters were by his side. Richard and his wife Joan have been married for 56 years. They had three children, Debbie Bello, Kimberly Wiggin and William Wiggin. Richard has five grandchildren, Chari, Corey, Samantha, Nicole and Justin. Richard’s great grandchildren were his pride and joy, Savannah, Gavin, Madison, Arabella, Ava, Emma and soon to arrive Grayson.
Richard was a humble man and never understood how he impacted the lives of his family and friends. Richard W. Wiggin was a giant among giants in so many ways. His family is committed to carrying out his life’s work so that he can live on, in the hearts and sole of his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rest in Peace Pop, you will be missed terribly.
Richard will be buried at the Phoenix National Cemetery on Tuesday July 20, 2021 at 10:30 am. A military burial honoring Lieutenant Wiggin for his years of service to his country.
