Delores Maxine Campbell (née Burkett)— a woman who loved family, nature, and life— died on April 14, at the age of 92. Delores was born in Dayton, Ohio, on January 8, 1934. In 1951, several years after moving to Arizona with her family, Delores met, fell in love with, and married Joseph Ernest Norman Campbell, her constant for over 60 years until his death in 2013. Together, Joe and Dee lived the Arizona dream: house, four kids, boating, skiing, and travel around the West and Arizona, particularly to the White Mountains (Hawley Lake was a favorite) and Apache Lake (where their trailer was the staging area for innumerable boating adventures and cookouts). After Joe’s retirement, they spent much of their time up on the Mogollon Rim. All these places were as much home to them as the Valley of the Sun. Delores is survived by her son Joel, her daughters Judy and Cathy, eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Her daughter Brenda died in 2006. She is missed by all.
