Dr. Peter M Bennett DVM

On Friday, November 27th, 2020 the Bennett family lost our beloved Father, Grandfather and Husband. Dr. Peter M Bennett DVM died of a heart attack in his home in Chandler, Arizona.
Peter was born in Detroit Michigan to Geoffrey W Bennett and Edith L Bennett on Nov 1, 1935. The family moved several times before Geoffrey Bennett went to serve our country in WWII as a medical doctor. Upon his return the family lived in Oskaloosa, Iowa where Pete grew up. He enlisted in the Military and served our country until he was honorably discharged in 1958. After his return from service he courted the love of his life, Patricia Louise Ray. They were married on February 18th, 1962, they were married for 58 years at the time of his passing.
Together, Pete and Patt had 3 children; Geoffrey P Bennett of Peoria, Il, Michael D Bennett of Gilbert, AZ and Laura A Bennett of Chandler, AZ. Pete graduated from Iowa State Veterinary Medical School in May of 1974. After which he had a long and impactful career as a Veterinarian. His hands were an absolute gift to the profession as he was a masterful surgeon and a compassionate champion for the small animals he came in contact with. He maintained his zest for reading and learning even late into his life. You could often find him with his nose in a book about medicine or cryptocurrency or gold mining. His interests were wide and varied as he maintained a sharp mind until his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents Geoffrey W Bennett and Edith L Bennett and his granddaughter Alexandria H Gaston.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia L Bennett; children, Geoffrey P Bennett (Elizabeth), Michael D Bennett (Susan) and Laura A Bennett (William); grandchildren, Ashleigh McGill (Teri), Nathan Bennett (Kellie), Hayden Bennett (Stephanie), Derrick Bennett (Kristin), Andrew Bennett (Allie), Caleb Bennett; Great Grandchildren, Everleigh McGill, Sara Bennett, Camden McGill and Iris Bennett.
We are confident he and Lexie are now on grand adventures in Heaven and taking care of all the animals which they both loved so much.
