Griggs, Harold Russell

Harold Russell Griggs passed away at his home in San Tan Valley, Arizona on January 24, 2016, after an extended illness.  Harold was born in Wenatchee, Washington, on July 3rd, 1946, to Marcus and Bernice Griggs.  He attended Orondo Elementary and graduated from Eastmont High School in 1964. Harold attended Wenatchee Valley College before entering the work force.  He lived in Portland, Oregon, Honolulu, Hawaii, and was a longtime resident in Seattle.  In 1969 Harold met and later married his longtime partner Gary Neyens.  He retired from a career at Food Services of America before moving to Arizona in the 2009.  Harold created beautiful garden spaces that were enjoyed by family and friends and the countless dogs and cats he loved and cared for. He was known for his love of animals, and for his wonderful pool parties.  Harold had a quick smile, friendly laugh, compassionate heart and always brought cheer to those around him. Harold passed away in the comfort of his home with Gary and his beloved dogs at his side. He was proceeded in death by his parents Marcus and Bernice Griggs, his sister Lorraine Knemeyer of Bellingham and Jeannine Ray (Marvin) of Orondo, and his sister-in-law Pat Griggs. He is survived by his partner Gary Neyens of Arizona.  His brothers Marcus Griggs (Kathleen) of Orondo, Alvin Griggs (Jeannette) of East Wenatchee and his sister Flora Griggs (Richard) of Orondo.  Harold is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Hal was a wonderful brother-in-law. I will always remember his smile and his love for all Gods creatures. He stood way taller in life than his stature showed. He will be greatly missed. But we know we will see him again one day.
Love you bro… Your are and always will be missed.

Loved him greatly and miss him dearly. Life was better having Hal in it. A caring, loving soul you could share anything with. My prayers are with Gary and Hal’s relatives and friends as we all learn to do life with him in an honorary fashion rather than in person. … until then…

Uncle Hal was the best Uncle -in-law I will remember him and miss him alot.
