Harley William Lemmon was born on June 1, 1934 in the Township of Big Lake, MN to John and Sylvia Lemmon. The second of three boys, Harley grew up helping on the farm in Elk River, MN. He married the love of his life, Margaret (Meg) Reed from Anoka, MN in 1957, and together they enjoyed 65 ½ wonderful years. Harley and Meg had a son, Scott, and a daughter, Sara. Harley passed away peacefully July 1, 2023.
Harley graduated from Elk River High School. Shortly after, he joined the US Army and was stationed in Germany for two years, where he was in charge of Special Services. He met Meg through a mutual friend upon his return from Germany. He was employed at Hoffman Engineering in Anoka, MN for 32 years.
Harley and Meg retired to Mesa, AZ in 1991. Together they enjoyed making wonderful new friends, and socializing often with shared dinners and game nights. A lifelong MN Vikings football fan, Harley was proud to receive a legacy brick at the new Minneapolis stadium in 2016, declaring him “Forever a Vikings Fan!”
Harley was a talented craftsman. As an accomplished woodworker he made treasured toys for his grandsons. He built Arizona rooms with the “Quarter-Pounders” at Carriage Manor, where he and Meg lived for 11 years. Upon moving to Sunland Springs Village, Harley enjoyed sharing his talents by teaching stained glass classes twice a week for 18 years. His legacy of beautiful stained glass lives on in many area homes.
