James A. “Jim” Jones, age 62, passed away early Saturday morning, December 20, 2025, at his home in Apache Junction, Arizona.
Born on August 29, 1963, in Los Angeles, California, Jim was the son of James and Jole (Rickford) Jones and the youngest of four children. He is preceded in death by his father, James, and his brother Jay. He is survived by his mother, Jole; his sisters, Jill of Mesa, AZ, and Jody of Mandan, ND; his nephews, Nick and Tim of Fargo, ND; and his loyal 3-year-old terrier, Sampson.
From his earliest days, Jim was shaped by strong roots, steady values, and a quiet determination that guided him throughout his life. He graduated from high school in Woodland Park, Colorado.
Jim found his true home in 2016 when he began working for the Superstition Community Food Bank. It was, without question, his dream job. He loved the people he worked alongside, the community he served, and the purpose he found in helping others. He often said the job gave him more than he could ever give back. Over the years, the Food Bank team and volunteers became a second family to Jim.
When Jim wasn’t doing something for the Food Bank, you could find him under the hood of a car, helping family and friends keep their vehicles running. He had a knack for fixing just about anything—often joking that all he needed was bubble gum, aluminum foil, and JB Weld.
Jim was also the kind of friend you could sit with for hours, sharing a beer or some Sailor Jerry’s, swapping stories, and enjoying simple moments of connection.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Superstition Community Food Bank in memory of our beloved Jim Jones.
