John Edward Schleicher, Jr. was born in Nashville, TN on August 1st, 1940. He passed away unexpectedly on February 9, 2020, in Phoenix, AZ at the VA Hospital. John was preceded in death by his parents John E. Schleicher, Sr. and Dorothy Eaton (Sowell) Schleicher, and his wife of 50 years, Judy Dale (McHenry) Schleicher. He leaves behind his beloved companion Jean Tryan of Phoenix, AZ; daughter Lisa Michele (Peter) Spinale of Gilbert, AZ; Terry Lee (Kim) Schleicher of Indianapolis, IN; Granddaughter Lacy Amber (Kyle) Bingham of Brooklyn, IA; Great-Granddaughter Marlee Shannon Sharpe of Brooklyn, IA; Brothers Jim (Phyllis) and David (Patty) Schleicher of Nashville, TN; Sister Linda Gayle Alexander, several nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
John was a very proud Veteran of the United States Army. He worked in the Finance Corps, and was stationed in France for a brief period of time and then at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indiana. He very much enjoyed the time he spent in the service, and always had a story to tell. He never met a stranger, and was able to find something in common with everyone he met. He was also a Master Mason, and member of the Brownsburg Masonic Lodge #241 Free and Accepted Masons. He served as Associate Guardian of Bethel #107, Brownsburg, Job’s Daughters, for several years as well. He was a member of the American Legion in Phoenix, AZ.
John was an active member of the Thomas Road Baptist Church in Phoenix, AZ. He especially enjoyed helping with the Free Food Distribution ministry. He will be missed by his many friends at the church, at Phoenix Manor where he and Jean enjoyed a very social community atmosphere, in Indiana and in Tennessee.
There will be a Memorial Service, in celebration of his life, at the Thomas Road Baptist Church on Friday, February 21st, at 11 a.m. The address is 5735 West Thomas Road, Phoenix, Arizona, 85031.

My husband & I met John when he came to Thomas Rd. Baptist Church. We will miss John’s loving handshake, smiles & hugs. We are sorry for your loss. John loved the Lord & we know he is now at home with the Lord he served & loved.

Thank you so very much! He was in his element, when he was at church, and it IS a comfort to know the joy he must be in today.

Thank you very much! I am Terry’s sister, Lisa. They both do, indeed, have a big heart. The world is definitely weird, without Dad in it… he wasn’t quiet (like Terry and I! lol) and he is certainly missed by many. Thank you again for your kind words.
