Karen Gilman Quisumbing, 57, of Chandler, Arizona died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her children on Nov. 13, 2014 at The Lund House, Hospice of the Valley, after a period of declining health.
Karen was born on August 15, 1957 in Worchester, Massachusetts. She was an accomplished disco dancer, scuba diver, kick boxer, equestrian, wave rider, and held a few degrees black belt in karate.
She is survived by her children: Andrew Quisumbing of Yakima, Washington; Laura Quisumbing-Duran and husband Diego and Julia Quisumbing, both of Makati, The Philippines; her mother, Juanita Gilman of Harrisonburg; and her brothers, Darrell E. Gilman II of Weyers Cave and Steve Gilman of Harrisonburg. Karen was preceded in death by her father, the late Darrell E. Gilman, Senior.
A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, P.O. Box 937, Verona, VA 24482.

I did not know Karen, I am the person who adopted her dog Bruno. Dogs are a reflection of their owners and Bruno is a great dog. He now has a big and little brother, he goes for walks daily. I’m sorry for your loss.
