Matthew Scott McDonald

On  Saturday, April 16th, 2022, Matthew Scott McDonald, loving husband, father, and grandfather of seven living grandchildren passed away at the age of 53.

Matthew was born on January 18th, 1969, in Spokane, Washington.  He grew up in Harrison, Idaho, where he met his “bride” Keli Marie Makanamakamaeokalani (Wedemeyer-Crow) McDonald.  They shared an adventurous life together for nearly 33 years.

Matthew was a Master Craftsman.  He owned his own construction company for many years and was regarded by all who worked for him as a wonderful carpenter and boss. He was a natural born leader who showed respect as he led by example.  His motto was “Today I can either be a boss or a teacher, I choose teacher.”

Matthew’s personality was as infectious as his smile was contagious.  If a stranger was hungry, he fed them.  If they needed shelter, he housed them.  Matthew made an impact where ever he went.    Matthew had a flair akin to a peacock, never going unnoticed in a crowd. He was a gifted storyteller and a fountain of obscure information.  He collected passport stamps and adventures with glee. And while the world was his “bucket list”, Matthew’s greatest joy was his family, whom he loved beyond measure. He was adored and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Matthew’s life will be held privately by his family later in the year.

Oh Matthew …my friend, Mr. Mc D. Going on 2 years now and I still think about you all the time. Some books are hard to put down, even when it’s over. People think you had a lot to say in life, but I think you have more to say now.
I’m not sure how to process it all, but I know God is good.
I pray a blessing on your family on your behalf…. Kelli, Jakob, Hannah. Shantelle, Chris, and all your grands…
May the God that created all of us never leave your sides,
and never let you go. Goodbye Matthew….. Scott Probert (Mr. P.)
