Robert (Bob) Mechura, 80 of Mesa, AZ, passed away peacefully after a short hospice stay at Hospice of AZ’s Greenfield House on February 11, 2015. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Marita and Robert Mechura, and is survived by his wife Judy Mechura, daughter Laurie Birkhofer, and three grandchildren Sam, Christena and Tristan Birkhofer. Prior to his retirement Bob worked in the construction trade for most of his career, ending as a labor foreman on a paper mill in St Cloud, MN.
Bob enjoyed customizing his 1982 Oldsmobile Regency Brougham and won many trophies in MN, ND, WI, & Canada, as well as in AZ. He was a former member of Heartland Wheels Car Club in Walker, MN and currently with the Arizona Veteran Rodders in Mesa. He and Judy enjoyed a cross country road trip from Chicago, IL to Los Angeles, CA traveling as much of the historic US Route 66 as is possible. (You may find pictures on the internet taken by folks intrigued by the car as they slowly drove by.)
