Luella “Sweet Child” Morris, 86, passed away on November 21, 2016 in Mesa, Arizona.  She was born June 24, 1930 in Albany, Georgia.

I could say a lot of things about my Mom, Luella Morris.  I could write and write and write about how sweet she was – how kind and generous.  I could tell you how she was there for her church and her community – and how she was a member of the Willing Workers, the Usher Board, and her church kitchen distributing food to the homeless.  I could tell you of her absolute devotion to her family, friends and husband, William Morris.

But bottom line – the most important thing about my Mom was the fact that she was my Mom.  Her love for my brother and me was unconditional and unwavering whether we were good or bad…or whether she agreed with us or disagreed.

It’s said a lot when people die – but in this case, it was true.  My Mom was one of the sweetest Moms in the whole wide world…and I’m going to miss her with every fiber of my being.

My only consolation is knowing that she is interred with the love of her life…the man with whom she spent 50 plus years.  My prayer is that God will have mercy on both their souls – unto the ends of the world.

My Mom’s last words to me were, “thank you” ….and she didn’t just ‘say’ it – no, she said it in an upbeat singsong melodious heartfelt way.  No, thank you Mom for being a woman of grace and inner beauty – and showing me that kindness is not weakness – but strength.

Mom…I love you.  Rest in peace.  Your daughter – Pat

I’d like to thank everyone for the love, care, calls, and kind words concerning the death of my Mom, Luella Morris.

To my family members – thanks for your love, care, and encouraging words of support.

Corrine Kelly, thank you so much for being that good neighbor the Bible talks about.  We’ll always be neighbors…thank you so much.

I especially want to express my love and gratitude to my church family, The Holy Temple Church, Bishop Belton Green, Bishop Melvin Samuels, and all my wonderful brothers and sisters in the faith who have always stood by me in good and bad times.  God, bless you all forever.
