Rodolfo “Rudy” Varela Jr., beloved son, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend, entered into eternal rest on May 9th, 2026, at the age of 85. Surrounded by the love of family and strengthened by his Catholic faith, Rudy passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord.
Rudy was born on September 26th, 1940, in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico to Rodolfo Varela Sr. and Maria Estella Perea. He was known for his strong spirit, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to the people he loved. He touched countless lives through his ability to make others feel welcomed and valued.
A devoted Catholic, Rudy found comfort and strength in his faith throughout his life. He believed deeply in the importance of family.
Rudy enjoyed boating, camping, waterskiing, snow skiing, and tennis and he especially cherished time spent with family, friends, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Whether sharing stories, offering advice, or simply enjoying laughter together, he created memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughters Laura Varela (David) and Lisa Varela-Schutes (Dave), grandson Trevor Schutes, and son David Daniel Varela. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Natalie Varela, granddaughters Madelyn and Domonique Varela (Tyler), great granddaughters Sierra and Delilah, his brother Oscar Varela and Sister Maria Teresa Vidaurri. He was preceded in death by his father Rodolfo Varela Sr., his mother Maria Estella Perea and son Rudy Varela Jr.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ and trust that Rudy now rests in God’s loving embrace. We will remember his strength, his love, and the lasting impact he made on everyone around him.
“Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.”
