Ronald Eugene Long

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Grizz.

Ronald Eugene Long, aka Grizz, was born on April 5th, 1948 in St Joseph Missouri and passed away on April 16th, 2023 at 75 years old. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathleen Poirier and his children Ronnie Long, Artie Poirier, Richard Long, Priscilla Poirier, 11 grandkids and 1 great grandchild. Ron passed away peacefully at Banner Gateway Hospital in Mesa. He served in the Navy at a young age and serviced aboard the USS Coral Sea in 1967-1968 in his service for the Vietnam War. Ron was a truck driver most of adult life. What started out hauling cattle for Monfort in Greeley, Colorado and ended with him hauling cement in the late 90’s. Ron was an avid lover of cars (especially his Corvette’s) and spent much of his free time working on them, or buying them as he got older in life. He was a man who was of few words. Ron wasn’t a man who spoke just for the sake of being heard, rather when he spoke, he grabbed the attention of everyone around. He was a man full of real life wisdom, not just the kind you read in novels. What was instructional in his earlier years, turned to pure humor later in his life. You couldn’t walk into a room with him anymore without him cracking a joke (more often than not it was slightly inappropriate). Many will remember Ron for the tough guy portrayal, but for those close to him, we ill remember a kind loving husband, father and grandfather who would give you the very shirt of his back if you needed it.
