Russell Oliverio, 94, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 in Mesa, Arizona. Cremation rites were recorded. A memorial service is scheduled for April 20, 2013 at 11:00 AM.
Russell was born December 26, 1918, the son of the late Anthony Oliverio and Barbara Oliverio/Ferrantino.
He is survived by wife of 62 years, Phyllis Oliverio; 2 sisters, Rose and Rosemary; 3 sons, Russell and Connie Oliverio of Payson, AZ, Steve and Chelsea Oliverio of Ann Arbor, MI, Anthony and Donna Oliverio of Gilbert, AZ; 2 grandsons, Vince and Jackie Oliverio, Stephen Oliverio; 5 granddaughters, Nina and Jeff Shaw, Niomee and Mark Baker, Rose Oliverio, Emily Oliverio, Melanie Oliverio; 6 great grandchildren, Hailee Baker, Hayden Baker, Elle Baker, Aaron Shaw, Hannah Shaw and Natalie Oliverio.
Russell served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II from June 1942 to August 1945 where he acquired a Victory Medal and 4 Bronze Stars. He worked as a tool and dye maker and later as a heavy equipment repair manager.
Russell was a loving man who was fortunate enough to have enjoyed 32 years of retirement. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, playing pool, playing cards and visiting with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as 5 brothers and 2 sisters, John, Sam, Pat, Mike, Pete, Mary and Nancy.
