Thomasine “Tomi” Sirofchuck

Thomasine “Tomi” Sirofchuck peacefully began the next leg of her journey on May 6, 2023, while sitting with her caregivers at Brookdale East Mesa Memory Care Facility in Mesa, Arizona.

Tomi was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, on November 25, 1933, the only child of Chalfant and Catherine Kunkle.  She studied piano and organ as she grew up and was an accompanist at her Lewisburg Lutheran church.  After high school, she attended Grove City College where she met and married Ralph Sirofchuck in 1953. They had two sons, Mike and Andy, and eventually settled in Shelby, Ohio, where Ralph taught at Shelby Senior High school and coached tennis for many years. Tomi taught piano and organ and was the organist at First Lutheran Church, Shelby.  After Ralph retired in the 1980s, they toured the country visiting Civil War Battlefields and living full time in their RV.  They visited all 50 states and one summer drove their RV to Alaska to visit Mike. They eventually settled in Apache Junction, Arizona, where they devoted their time to round and square dancing.

When Ralph died in 2011 and Tomi moved into assisted living; sadly, dementia eventually led to her residing at the facility where she passed away.  She was beloved and respected musician and teacher, a wonderful wife and mother, and loved by everyone who got to know her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.  She is survived by her sons, Mike (Stacy) and Andy (Patty), grandson, Josiah (Jaydyn) and twin great granddaughters, Elizabeth Rose and Lily Grace.  We miss her very much.

Condolences can be sent to RalphTomi@gmail.com or PO Box 970, Kodiak, AK 99615

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to your local hospice.

I knew Tomi when she was in Brookdale, in AJ. She was a great lady. She kept me on my toes! She would stop by my office and tell me to get to work. May you rest in peace Tomi.
