JoAnn Mavis Thompson (nee Evenson), age 82, passed away on Monday, February 19th, 2018 at Banner Medical Center after suffering from a stroke. She was surrounded by her husband of 46 years, Thomas W. Thompson, daughters Mary, Ann, and Jeanne, and niece Madelon Perkins. JoAnn was born in Sisseton, South Dakota. She later moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and worked in the title insurance industry until she retired. After retiring, JoAnn and Tom spent much of the winter in the Phoenix, AZ area and moved to Mesa, Arizona permanently in 2014. JoAnn enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family & friends. Her love and laughter will be greatly missed.
JoAnn was predeceased by her parents Oscar & Jenny Evenson, brothers Orville, Eugene, Kenneth, Burnell, Leonard, Oscar (Scottie) and sister Marjorie. She is survived by her husband Tom; daughter Mary Zetterlund and husband Kris; grandsons Erik and Kyle Zetterlund; daughter Ann Thompson; granddaughter Callie Keeney and husband Michael Wysocki, granddaughter Zoey Keeney; daughter Jeanne Strange and husband Mike; grandson Cody Strange. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 3rd, 2018, 11:00 am at the Fountain of Sun Community Center, Fireside Room, 540 S. 80th St, Mesa, AZ 85208. Following the celebration of JoAnn’s life, cake and coffee will be served. In lieu of memorial gifts or flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in JoAnn’s name.
