Tommie Thomas, Jr.

Obituary

Tommie Thomas, Jr. was born on March 13, 1957 to Mabel and Tommie Thomas in Texarkana, AR. He resided in Gilbert, AZ for the past 13 years. He left us on July 24, 2013.

Tommie pursued one of his many passions playing football at LSU. He later joined the Air Force and served our country for 13 years, where he received his Surgical Technician training. He finished his career at St. Joseph?s of Outpatient Surgical Center, having worked for St. Joseph?s Hospital for 23 years, both in General Surgery and Outpatient Surgery.

Tommie was an exceptional and well-respected Surgical Technician who brought joy and laughter to everyone he came in contact with. Tommie lived life to the fullest; he worked hard and played hard. He lived life on his own terms and left us the same way doing one of the things he loved to do, golfing. He loved all sports, going to the cabin, cooking, fishing, listening to music, and if there was a party he was there ? he was the party!

He will be truly missed by those who know and love him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and Tommie Thomas, his dear friends, Jimmy McDevitt, Lynn Thomas, and Joe Gamble.

Those who remain to miss him are his beloved daughter Torrie Alexandra Thomas, her mother Lori Gearhart, and his Aunt Ubirdia Holmes. His loving companion and best friend Jackie Crowder, her children Evie and Tyler, Evie?s daughter Lyndin, and Jackie?s parents Bill and Connie Crowder, and his family at St. Joseph?s Outpatient Surgery Center.

Here?s to you, Tommie! Cheers!

My sincere condolences to Jackie, Torrie and Lori.

My time with Tommy started in the late 70’s when he arrived at Travis AFB, CA for his first military assignment, we married on 1 Dec 1983 and went our separate ways in the early 90’s. Our TAFB family & friends created so many everlasting memories, as did our travels to Homestead AFB, FL and Wiesbaden, German.

Tommy loved sports, (participating more than watching) gatherings with families and friends, partying every opportunity that presented itself, music, caring for his patients and going for drives on a Sunday afternoon.

Tommy, always know that our love will forever be with me and I cherish the years we were together.

Rest in peace, your heart was tender, so I know the Big Guy has a place for you!

    Rose Thomas

Tommie was so very special to me. High school buds, close friends. There was something about him that every liked him. He was very smart in school and he did want anyone to know for some reason. I am so proud to see how successful he was and that he lived well.

    Love Always

    Tommy,
I just found out about you being gone this morning. You were so much fun!
You made 88-90 the best years of my life. And you stayed my best friend no matter what. I’m so sorry that your gone.
I remember going to all the spring training games with you and kids would come up to you thinking you were Michael Jordan. I didn’t see it. But you sure went with it. And you would sign your name Tommy Jordan.
Or the time you peed your pants in the car in LA. OH MY! The laughs. I never laughed so hard in my life!
And then there was our motorcycle accident, you would be Happy to know that I just got my motorcycle endorsement and I’m back on that horse again. You will always have a special place in my Heart.
