Wayne Bruce Havelka, 84, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, in Mesa, Arizona.
Wayne was born on September 23, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, to George and Gertrude Havelka. He grew up on the west side of Chicago and attended Farragut High School before beginning a life filled with service, hard work, and laughter.
Wayne proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1964. During his time in the service, he was most notably known as a pool lifeguard. After his military service, Wayne spent 32 years working as a truck driver, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and dedication.
Wayne was a man who loved life and the people in it. He enjoyed golfing with friends and family, singing at the karaoke club, and exploring new foods as a self-proclaimed foodie. Known for his lively personality, Wayne was truly “a ham.” He loved to make people laugh, sometimes dressing up and performing songs just to entertain those around him. His humor, warmth, and love for a good party made him unforgettable to everyone who knew him.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Doris Havelka; his twin brother, Kenneth Havelka; his daughter, Vicki Liford; and his stepdaughters, Barbara Swanson-Brehm(Stan), Susan Havelka, Julia Loftus (Mike), and Melissa Downey. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Joanne, Stephen, Vincent, Kayla, Taylor, Leah, Ryan, Sean, Luke, and Kaelan, as well as his beloved great-grandson, Aiden. Wayne is also survived by two nephews, a niece, and countless friends whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gertrude Havelka, and his siblings, George, Charmaine, and Marilyn.
Wayne will be remembered for his big personality, his sense of humor, and the joy he brought into every room. His love for laughter, music, family, and friends will live on in the many memories shared by those who knew him.
Wayne will be cremated and a private celebration of life will be held.
