William “Bill” Clark McKnight (84) of Mesa, Arizona, surrounded in love by his earthly family passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020 to join his heavenly family.
Born April 20, 1936 in St. George, Utah to Lynn Clark McKnight and Elda (Leavitt) Langley, Bill moved with his family to Nevada where he attended Las Vegas High School. In 1954, he met and married the love of his life, Patricia Anne Hanson. The couple was later sealed for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles Temple.
Bill earned his bachelor’s degree in an automotive-related field from San Diego University and persistently worked on his master’s degree at a variety of higher education institutions. He spent most of his professional life as an auto mechanic teacher at various schools in California, Montana, and Arizona. He later retired from the City of Mesa where he was employed with the Fleet Support Services. Bill loved using his talents to serve his family, friends, and neighbors.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he worked diligently at his Church callings. Bill spent his spare time camping, working on cars, and with those nearest to him. He adored his family and was cherished by so many others.
Lovingly known as “Papa,” Bill is survived in life by his wonderful wife, Pat, and many descendants. His posterity includes seven children, fourteen grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
We will miss Papas love, goodness, sense of humor, and example to his wonderful posterity. His faithful service to his fellow men will forever be a mark of his character and legacy. We look forward to the day we can serve with him again.
A Wise Choice Desert View Chapel, 9702 East Apache Trail, Mesa, Arizona 85207, will host Bills viewing on Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Pat,
I am saddened to hear of Bill’s passing. He was a true joy to have worked with. I don’t have the words to express how much I and my family loved you and he. He will be missed on this earth, but the joy in heaven as he stands before the creator and reunites with his loved ones. May God hold you and your family in his hand’s and comfort you at this time of sorrow as he holds Bill to his heart.
again my deepest sympathies to you and your families.
