William Hamilton Brown II was born on December 28, 1946, first son of Dr. William Hamilton Brown and May Ruth Norton Brown. He was born in Ohio, but his family shortly moved to California, where he grew up in Pasadena and the LaCanada/Flintridge area.
He studied electrical engineering and applied math at the University of Colorado before the term “computer science” had even been coined, and enjoyed a career of more than 50 years in the area of computer software design.
He was a strong, convinced Christian, and was involved in the ministry of the science apologetics organization, Reasons to Believe, and volunteered for a number of years with Friends of Internationals, an outreach to international students at Arizona State University. He was a member of Journey of Grace Church of the Nazarene in Mesa, AZ.
He departed this life on March 4, 2026, and is survived by his wife, Rhonda, sons Timothy (Marianne) and David, grandchildren Rachel, Renee, Alex, and Joshua, and brothers James Brown and Robert Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, by sister Nancy Brown Quesnell, and brother Joseph Brown.
