Obituary

Otis Harris and Gertrude Duell Harris welcomed their son Arlington Otis Harris on January 23, 1949, in Los Angeles California.

Arlington graduated from Fremont High School in 1968 where he had many friends. They referred to themselves as the posse. They could

be seen driving his sister, Margie’s Cadillac through the neighborhood.

Arlington had many hobbies. He loved music, exercising and preparing gourmet meals. He had an extensive, jazz record collection. In his youth he jogged daily and he walked six miles a day until his illness.

A great cook, Arlington prepared gourmet meals from recipes he would find on apps and the Food network. He also loved to eat out and travel to warm exotic locations.

He was a real people person. He cherished his relationship with the Deacons of Glad Tidings and the Prostate Cancer Men’s support group.

Arlington loved and cherished his family. He was a great father to his son Keith Lamar, born June 21, 1969. He made sure he

had many father and son experiences. He took him horseback riding, on cruises, and on trips around the country.

Arlington was employed at Mattel company for twenty-three years. They transferred him to Hayward in 1975. He worked there until 1990. He then began a career at HD Supply. He was employed by HD Supply until he retired in 2018.

Arlington accepted Christ and joined Glad Tidings Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop JW Macklin in 1991. An active member of the Men’s Ministry, Arlington became a Deacon.

Arlington met the love of his life Marion Butler at Glad Tidings. He referred to her affectionately as his princess from the beginning of their courtship. They married in February 2017. Deacon and Sister Harris resided in Hayward, CA. before relocating to Mesa, Az. in 2022. However, he remained faithful to Glad Tidings International until his health failed.

Arlington leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Marion Butler Harris, Sons Keith Lamare Harris (Carolyn Anderson), Eddie W. Engram (Natashia, granddaughters Malia and Bella), Thomas G. Engram (Tashia, grandson Ari), and Dior Hartford (Gary Gordon, Stephen Bibbs, Dana Hartford)

Niece Rochelle Dunn, Great Nephew Tra’von Forte, Aunt Earlyne Clemons, Uncles Wilber Harris, and James Harris (Ella Pearl).

Sabrina Wesley (Paul Wesley, Jennifer/William Anderson, Rhonda/Aaron Johnson, Aaron/Heather Wesley),

Brother-in-Law: George Polite (Aaron Polite, Joshua/Colleen Polite), Mike Polite, Stafonda Lee (Timothy Lee), Mark/LaShonda Polite)

His neighbors from Briarwood in Hayward, CA. and Woodside in Mesa, Az. UCSF Prostate Support Family and host of other friends and love ones mourn his passing.
