Obituary
Bobbie Joe “Bobcat” Peters, age 93, of Florence, Arizona passed away on May 12, 2024.
He was born May 18, 1930 in Lamar, Colorado to Edward B. and Grace Edith Sheldon Peters. He married Vona Marie Simpson on March 28, 1950. They had five children.
In 1953 he and Vona started Bearcat Outfitters. “Bobcat” was an avid hound man running hounds for black bear, mountain lion, and bobcat. While working for eight years as a predator control officer for the state of Colorado he acquired his nickname “Bobcat” by setting a national record of catching 104 bobcat in a single month. From 1980 through 1990 he changed his focus to only elk and deer outfitting. He retired in 1990. Shortly after he and Vona divorced.
Bobbie loved the outdoors and became a snowbird. He enjoyed fishing in the summers in Colorado and Utah and artifact hunting in Arizona in the winters.
He is survived by his children, Bobby (Jeanie) Peters, Canon City, Colorado, Opal (Mike) Myers, Wellington, Utah, Marita(Orville) Douglas, Florence, Arizona, Edith (Brian)Manning, Grand Junction, Colorado, Seth (Linda) Peters, Craig, Colorado; brother Ed (Sue) Peters, Montrose, Colorado; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack Peters, Gene Peters, David Peters and sister Georgia Brunken.
As per Bobbie’s wishes there will be no memorial services.
