It is with heavy hearts that we share the death of Carol Ann Nelson (Smith). Carol passed away peacefully on November 15th, 2020.
Carol was born in Rockford, IL on September 13th, 1942 to George Delbert and Helen Smith. She was the youngest of eight children. She married the love of her life, Jerry Nelson, on May 23rd, 1964 in Rockford, IL. They had three children: Jacquelyn, Donald and Diane.
She retired from Winnebago County Treasures Office after 25 years of employment. Carol and Jerry worked tirelessly at their business, Frink’s Sewer and Drain, until their retirement to Wisconsin. The cold proved to be too much for them, and they ultimately retired to Gold Canyon, AZ.
She is survived by her husband Jerry, daughter Jacquelyn, grandchildren Dean (Kassi) Biel, Krystyna (Chad) Ostrowski, Samantha (Fiancé Ryan Rakovich) Biel, Parker Nelson, and Jordan Nelson, great-granddaughter Addysen Biel as well as many nieces and nephews. The family wants to express our gratitude to the staff of Apache Junction Health Care Center and Rehab as well as Hospice of the Valley for their compassionate care.
A memorial to celebrate her life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, we are asking donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
