Obituary
Darrow “Buzz” Wehrman passed away on September 19, 2025, at the age of 100 in Chandler, AZ. He was a grandfather to seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter Sharyn. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann, and his son, Robert.
A proud U.S. Army veteran and was the oldest living Prescott High School WI alumnus, Buzz graduated in 1943 before being drafted into World War II. His most vivid memory of service came in the Philippines, when his unit was told to turn back because the war had ended. A moment of peace he carried with him for the rest of his life.
After returning home, Buzz married Ann in 1946. Together they raised their family while working at Hastings State Hospital before settling in St. Paul, MN. Buzz later began a long career with the U.S. Post Office, where he became known for his ingenuity, including being the first to paint postal trucks in the now-familiar red, white, and blue scheme. He retired in 1982.
In retirement, Buzz pursued woodworking, gardening, genealogy, and travel. He moved to Arizona in 1992 but remained deeply proud of his Prescott, WI roots. In May of this year, he celebrated his 100th birthday on Memorial Day, surrounded by family and friends, a fitting milestone for a veteran.
Buzz will be remembered for his humor, hard work, and devotion to his family. His legacy spans five generations.
In Loving memory of Darrow “Buzz” Wehrman.
His Celebration of Life will be held at his residence in Mesa, AZ on November 16, 2025.
