Obituary

Gerry Deane Kinsley passed away peacefully on March 24, 2022 in Chandler, Arizona at the age of 87.

Gerry was born November 20, 1934 in Omaha, Nebraska to Martin Clifford Kinsley and Frances E. (Rexer) Kinsley. After spending his youth and high school years in Omaha, Gerry, along with his parents and two siblings, moved to Prescott, Arizona.

Following his love for space and aviation, Gerry enlisted in the Air Force which lead him to be stationed near Tokyo, Japan where he fell in love with his 5rst wife, Sachiko. He played in the Air Force band as a drummer and loved jazz and big band music.

After returning to the states, Gerry got his degree and became an electrical engineer at the Motorola Government Electronics Group and worked in Scottsdale and Chandler, Arizona where he was involved in managing communications projects for the NASA Apollo missions, as well as many military and satellite communication projects over the years. During this time he enjoyed camping and traveling to Flagstaff to enjoy the great outdoors.

Gerry eventually retired to Sun Lakes, Arizona. He 5nally had time to enjoy his many hobbies including 5shing, reading, listening to jazz and playing the drums and piano, and had a continuing interest in space and aviation, fast cars, samurai action movies, and having dinner with family and friends. He had a kind and serving nature and tried to always be there when friends and loved ones needed him. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Huan; daughters, Kazuko and Michiko; son-in-laws Kitti and Kyle; grandchildren, Kelley and her husband Sean, Amy, Jordan, Michael and his wife Molly; and great grandchildren, Stella and Carter.

Gerry requested cremation and no public ceremony. A donation in his memory can be made to The American Cancer Society or a similar organization in your area.
