Obituary

Glenn Lee Barrier, age 84, of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away on February 15, 2026, in
Mesa, Arizona.

Glenn was born on January 10, 1942, in Eureka, Kansas, to Clinton Barrier and Catherine (Simmons) Barrier. He was raised in Greenwood County and attended Eureka High School, Tonovay Public School, and later Butler County Community College.

On February 14, 1965, Glenn married the love of his life, Sondra Hanes. Together they shared 61 years of marriage, recently celebrating their anniversary surrounded by family and a lifetime of memories built on love, commitment, and devotion.

Glenn proudly served his country in the United States Army from September 21, 1960, to
August 31, 1966. During his military service, he was stationed at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., as well as in Seoul, Korea.

Following his military service, Glenn began a long and dedicated career with Beech Aircraft, later Raytheon Aircraft, where he worked for 43 years. His strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment carried him through a successful career until his retirement in 2007.

Retirement allowed Glenn to fully enjoy the things he loved most. He and Sondra traveled the United States in their RV and spent winters in Apache Junction, Arizona, at Sierra Del Saguaro for 20 years, where they built lasting friendships and enjoyed happy hours with their SDS family.

Glenn loved boating and water skiing, hunting and fishing in his younger years, and spending time outdoors. He cherished Sunday family dinners, attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, and family vacations to Table Rock Lake. Glenn also enjoyed listening to music, tracing family genealogy, and relaxing with a cold beer at Walnut River Brewery.

Above all else, Glenn treasured his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Sondra Barrier; his children, Shannon Barrier and Eric (Keely) Barrier; and his grandchildren, Olivia Barrier, Easton (Zoey) Barrier, Maddux Barrier, Taryn Brown-Barrier, and Tevin Brown-Barrier.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Catherine Barrier; his brothers, Carl Barrier, Harold Barrier, and Elwin Barrier; and his sisters, Evelyn Walford and Sharon Woods.

Cremation has taken place. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Glenn’s ashes will be laid to rest at the Barrier-Ladd Cemetery in Eureka, Kansas.
Glenn will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for family, his stories, and the many moments shared with those he loved.
