Obituary

Glenna (Cindy) Peterson went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2024, at the age of 80 while living in Surprise, Arizona. She filled our lives with love, laughter, and the enchanting melodies from her piano. A devoted wife to her husband, Gary Peterson, of 61 years, and a cherished mother to her children, Jeni James (AZ), Aaron Peterson (WA), and Melanie Gabel (TN), she also leaves behind 7 wonderful grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Cindy is also survived by her stepfather Gerald Scholer and five brothers, John, Don, Jerry, Jeff and Dan.

Cindy’s faith was a beacon of inspiration to all who knew her, as she embodied the teachings of Christ with grace and compassion. Her servant’s heart was evident in how she frequently opened her home, offering everyone the warmth of a home-cooked meal. Many friends and extended family members fondly remember gathering around her piano to sing or playing spirited table games late into the night.

She had a passion for reading, and her remarkable musical talent revealed her deep devotion to the Lord. Cindy’s fingers danced effortlessly across the piano keys, harmonizing with hymns of praise and expressing her profound faith. Cindy also performed as a pianist with “Rejoice!”, a Christian worship music group. She was also the pianist at the churches that she attended.

Even in her battle with Alzheimer’s, Cindy lovingly recited the names of all of her 8 brothers and continued to share her beautiful music with the residents of the assisted living home where she lived. Playing piano and singing always filled her soul and brought her joy.

Though we mourn her loss, we celebrate a life filled with love, family, music, and unwavering faith in God. We take solace in knowing that she is at peace in the presence of the Lord.

A memorial service for Cindy Peterson will be held at Olympic View Baptist Church (4707 Elwood Dr W, University Place, WA 98466) on Sunday, January 26th, at 12:30 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Cindy’s legacy.

For those attending the service, there will be a reception immediately following.
