Obituary

Marlene Huff, 72, of Rockwell, Iowa passed away Wednesday January 21, 2015 at Apache Junction Health Center in Apache Junction, Arizona.

Marlene was born in Villisca, Iowa October 16, 1942 to Irvin and Bertha Lucille (Overman)  Sierp.  Her given name was Lois Marlene Sierp, but just like her mother she was always known by her middle name. She grew up in Villisca.   She enjoyed basketball in High School and graduated from Villisca High School with the class of 1960.

In 1962 she married Marion Harvey Huff. They had one daughter, Susan Ann (Sue).  They spent most of their life together in the North Iowa area.  Over the years they lived in Mason City, Nora Springs, Ventura Heights and spent the past 17 years living the summers in Rockwell, Iowa and the winters in Gold Canyon, Arizona.

Marlene was a hard worker who provided lawn mowing service for over 25 years.  This started as a small venture with her providing the mowing service and Marion providing the mechanical support.  The business grew and became a full time summer job, allowing them to spend winters in their Arizona home.

When she was not working, she was an avid golfer.  While in Arizona she was known to golf multiple rounds every day.  Over the years she also enjoyed swimming, water skiing, riding snowmobiles, bowling and racquet ball. She especially enjoyed reading and working puzzles, when she was no longer able to golf.  Prior to her deteriorating health she enjoyed life to the fullest and enjoyed being with her family and many friends.

Marlene is survived by her husband Marion, her daughter Sue (Dave) Goranson; her grandsons Kyle and Alex Goranson; Mother, Lucille Sierp; Brother Bob (Marcia) Sierp; Sister In Laws Dee Huff, Norma Huff and LaVonne (Gene) Jensen; step-son Sam Anderson and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Father, Irvin Sierp; Father and Mother in law Samuel and Alice Huff; brother In laws Morris and Cliff Huff.

A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Saturday January 31, 2015 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 11495 265th Street, Mason City, Iowa.  Following the graveside service there will be a Celebration of life gathering at Rhythm Church, 404 North Federal Avenue starting at approximately 1:30pm.
