Obituary

Jerry Raymond Sheets, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 20, 2025, at the age of 87.

Jerry was born on November 12, 1937, in Seminole, Oklahoma, to Virginia Engle and Raymond Sheets. He was raised in Blackwell, Oklahoma, alongside his younger brother, Leland. After graduating from Blackwell High School in 1956, Jerry proudly enlisted in the Army National Guard Reserves.

Jerry dedicated a portion of his early career to public service, working as a police officer in Blackwell and later as a motorcycle officer in Wichita, Kansas. He then embarked on a successful career spanning over 30 years in sales with Sellers Tractor Company. His dedication and talent made him the #1 salesman in the United States on two occasions. The renowned sale of the “Shaky Sheets” construction roller remains a fond memory for one of his most valued customers and friend. Prior to retiring, Jerry enjoyed his time selling cars at Merle Snider Motors in Winfield, Kansas.

An avid sports enthusiast, Jerry passionately followed the Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Cardinals, Oklahoma Cowboys and Sooners, and Kansas Wildcats and Jayhawks. He always made time to cheer them on. He was quite the dancer and a valued member of a Wichita bowling league for more than 30 years, with several perfect 300 games. His other interests included golf, classic cars, motorcycles, spending time on his boat at Table Rock Lake, and a good Scotch Aggravation. He had a sharp memory and enjoyed reminiscing while telling stories of the past. Above all, Jerry cherished his family and friends, savoring every moment spent in their company.

Jerry was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Lynn Sheets. For almost 25 wonderful years, they were happily married. Jerry and Lynn were inseparable, finding immense joy in each other’s company. Together, they embraced life’s pleasures, including traveling, dining out, dancing, and taking leisurely drives with no particular destination in mind.

He was a proud father to Dennis Stafford (Revere), Tim Stafford (Misti), Carol Johnson (David), and Steve Schul (Paul Zablocki). He was a cherished grandfather to Matt, Andrea, Stephanie, Jarin, KayDee, Ethan, and Tanner, and a loving great-grandfather to eleven great-grandchildren.
Jerry is now reunited with those who passed before him: his loving wife, Lynn; his son, Tim; his brother, Leland; and his parents, Virginia and Raymond Sheets.

After a life rich in experiences, Jerry will be fondly remembered for his inherent kindness, unwavering generosity, strong integrity, and fierce devotion to his family and his many friends.
