Obituary

Lynn Karl Skousen passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, in Mesa, Arizona, surrounded by family who loved him dearly.

Born on August 31, 1954, to Pete and Mary Skousen, Lynn was raised on a ranch in Mesa, Arizona, where he grew up working with horses and cattle. He was the third of five siblings: J’net (Barry) Stapleton, Kay (Charlynn) Skousen, David Skousen (deceased), and Marilyn (Max) Arnett.

Lynn served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ireland from 1974 to 1976, an experience that strengthened his testimony and shaped his life.

On August 27, 1976, he married the love of his life, Sheri Lynne Montierth. Together they raised five children: Derek (Tiffany) Skousen, Brendan (Stacy) Skousen, Stefanie (Maikolo) Tai, Carlin (Sarah) Skousen, and Jenna (Maximillian) Alvarez. Lynn was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather to 23 grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy.

Lynn had a creative eye and a deep love for capturing moments through photography. He had a unique and humorous affection for flashlights—always prepared and always curious. He loved playing tennis and treasured any opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren, whom he adored more than anything.

He will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit, quiet strength, and the deep love he had for his family and faith.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 11th at 6:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1500 E 6th Avenue, Mesa, Arizona. All who knew and loved Lynn are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.
