Obituary
Marilyn Louise Messmer, 77, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on December 24, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.
Marilyn was born on February 27, 1943 in Davenport, Iowa, to Clarence and Imogene Sandway.
Marilyn was known for her faith, witty personality, caring heart, and helping those close to her. She was a loving wife, mother, and an amazing friend to have. She loved anything Elvis Presley, camping with her husband, having gatherings with all her children, and her favorite job was being a cafeteria worker at Stevenson Elementary and Patterson Elementary. Marilyn was a simple woman, but the glue that held the family together and the rock her children loved to have. She will be greatly missed, but those close to her know she is always with them.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her mother Imogene Sandway, father, Clarence Sandway, sister Carol Otting, daughter Christine Messmer and son-n-law, Alan Zimmerman. She leaves behind her husband, Ronald Messmer, daughter, Cindy (Messmer) Zimmerman, sons, Mark (Gabby) Messmer, Rodney (Michelle) Messmer, granddaughters Heather (Bingham)Whitworth, Julie Bingham, Danielle Messmer, grandson Cecil Stacher, great granddaughter Ella Whitworth, great grandsons Cole Whitworth, Chase Whitworth, Logan Whitworth, and Ethan Bingham.
Marilyn was cremated and her ashes will be spread in a few special places that her loving husband of 57 years and children have selected, but her finally resting place will be in Davenport, IA at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
A gathering to celebrate Marilyn’s life and remember her will be held on February 27, 2021 starting at 2:00pm, at her son Rodney’s residence of 2265 S Del Rancho Mesa, AZ 85209.
