Obituary

Mary Frances Christian – January 31, 1933 – March 26, 2024

Mary Frances Christian, 91, of Queen Creek, Arizona peacefully died on March 26, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born in Walnut Grove, Missouri in 1933 to Leonard Neely Christian and Esta Looney Christian.  Being raised on a farm, Mary learned how to work hard and work she did for her entire life.   She had various jobs throughout her long life working until the age of 79.

In her younger years, Mary was known for her athletic abilities in several sports including volleyball, basketball, but especially fastpitch softball where she was renowned for her remarkable pitching speed.  She was a hometown celebrity in her day.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her two older brothers, Randolph and Allen Christian, and one older sister, Aline Balcom.  Mary is survived by her four children, Rex (Margarita) Lucas, Julie Lucas-Smith, Scott (Rosa) Lucas, Lori (Dusty) Leavitt, her 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on April 20, 2024, at 12:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 21915 E Cloud Road, Queen Creek, Arizona, 85142.
