Obituary

Phyllis M. Wright passed away April 19, 2024 in Mesa, AZ at the age of 95. She is now at peace with our Lord God.

She was born in rural Iowa County, Iowa to Virgil and Ethel (Churchill) Grimm on July 11, 1928. She was raised on a farm where she loved horses and hated milking cows. She attended Iowa Teachers College and became a teacher working in the town of Webster, Iowa where she met and married Dean L. Wright on July 6, 1949 and he preceded her in death October 17, 2007. After the birth of their two children they moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she eventually became the office manager at the City Assessors Office. Upon retirement she and her husband moved to Arizona.

Phyllis is survived by her two children Lyle Wright (Virginia) Prescott, AZ and Janet (Harold) Schlesselman Mesa AZ; brothers Leroy (Shirley) Grimm, Larry (Louise) Grimm and Marvin (Jeanne) Grimm; granddaughters Anna Schlesselman (Bill) Kress and Kathryn (Graham) Dektor. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Benjamin,Elijah and Adalyn Kress and Mila and Morgan Dektor.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Laverne (Gerri) Grimm and Kenneth (Karen) Grimm.
