Obituary
It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce that Scott Michael Petello, age 67 of San Tan Valley, Arizona passed away peacefully with his family at his side at Banner Heart Hospital. We love you and miss you.
Scott was born in Omaha, Nebraska to John & Ellanore Petello. The family moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1967. Scott worked at the family owned Grumpy Johns BBQ Restaurant before joining Discount Tire Company in 1976. He had a 40 year career with Discount Tire. He started as a sales and service technician and became a store manager in 1981. Throughout the years, he managed stores in Tucson and several other valley locations. In 1999 he became the Discount Tire Safety Director. After several years he returned to manage the Power and US60 store in Mesa until he retired on April 23, 2016. Scott couldn’t stay idle very long and after several months off, he started working for Costco in May of 2017.
Scott enjoyed spending time with family, going on annual vacations, vehicles (he had many cars and trucks over the years) and his dogs. He especially liked the four cruises and numerous trips up to Northern Arizona where he could spend time with family and friends in the cooler weather. He loved playing and being with his two grandchildren; Lucy (5) and Dylan (3).
Scott is survived by his wife, Donna of 43 years, daughter Lindsey McGinn, (husband, Chris), son Kevin Petello, grandchildren; Lucy and Dylan McGinn, sister Lisa Ramsower, (husband, Ken), brother Mark Petello, (wife, Lisa), and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at Cornerstone Church in Chandler, Arizona (Alma School Road & San Tan Loop 202) on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 1130 AM to 2 PM.

Scott was a dear co-worker at Costco. He was always helpful, had a smile on his face and shared great concert and travel stories. We miss you, Scott!! Teresa

Scott, started at Discount Tire when I was working there at Scottsdale and Oak and we became good friends. I had the pleasure of being there when he married his wife, Donna. He was classy gentleman who treated everyone with kindness and respect. I’m sorry he and I weren’t able to stay in touch over the years. My deepest condolences to his family. You will be missed by all you have touched.

On behalf of the Scottsdale High School 50th Class Reunion team that is looking for former classmates, I would like to express our sympathy for Scott’s passing. A few members of the team were in grade school with Scott at Pima School as well as in high school with him. The intention is to have a remembrance of some type at the event for those we know have passed. Scott will, of course, be included.
