Terry Lee Green

Obituary

Terry Lee Green was born on December 26, 1955 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Harvey and Betty Green. He was six weeks early, but even then, he had a quiet strength. He was taken from us at the age of 64, on January 8, 2020, and is survived by his wife, Rhea, who he was married to for 40 years; five of his six daughters, Kristy (Michael) King, Stacy (Troy) Collon, Molly (Newell) Godwin, Jenny (Holden) Norton, and Emily (Jacob) Brimhall; as well as 18 grandchildren, with the 19th to come in May 2020. Terry is also survived by his siblings, David (Kathy) Green, Renee Erwin, Valerie (Tom) Usery, Julie (Rusty) LeSueur, and Eldon (Penny) Lewis. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Green, and both his parents, Harvey and Betty Green.

Terry moved around quite a bit when he was younger, but lived in Arizona for the last 50 years. He attended Mesa High School and then served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Argentina. After his mission, he met his eternal companion in the neighborhood and dated her for two years. Terry and Rhea made a happy home for their six daughters and stayed put.

Terry worked hard with his hands, installing cabinets and countertops for forty years, and was liked by all. He enjoyed camping with family, playing with his grandchildren, spending time with his Love, and watching television. He was an easygoing guy and a hard worker, who would give you the shirt off his back. He may have seemed quiet, but once you got to know him, he could talk your ear off.

We loved him more than words can say and are saddened by his passing, but know he has enjoyed a glorious reunion with the loved ones who have passed on before him, and that we will see him again one day.

A Memorial Celebration will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020. There will be visitation starting at 6:00pm, with the service beginning at 7:00pm. Both will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 454 North Crismon Road, Mesa, Arizona 85208.

  1. Growing up together in 3rd Ward we were all part of one big family. Since his sister Renee was one of my best friends I spent a lot of time with the Green family growing up. I love this family and I’m so sorry you have lost an important part of your family in Terry. He is a great guy and good friend to those who knew him. May you feel some peace and comfort at this time knowing you will be together for eternity.

  2. We are so sorry to hear about your dear husband, father and grandfather. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. We pray that the Lord’s most tender blessings will be upon you and your dear family during this difficult time.

  3. Rhea and family, we were so saddened to hear that Terry had passed away! It was heartbreaking but we know that he loved you and your family! We have known you guys for many years and have enjoyed many family times together when our kids were very young! These were such happy times! We are so grateful to have known Terry and we know that he was a hard working man! We appreciate all the work that Terry did on our houses and but David appreciated the most was when he had excepted to calling of being the branch clerk! He was such a huge help! That was what Terry was like, he did what was asked of him, he was always willing to serve the Lord! We love you Rhea and Terry and your family!

  4. Dear Rhea and family
He was a great friend. A good example. He saved my nephew; driving to Rocky Point to drive him to the hospital when no one else had the means or time to just drop everything and go. Just one example of kind service from the Green Family to ours.
    What sadness.
    What loss.
What a blessing he was to your family.
Bless you all. Bless your aching hearts with peace. Bless your memories.
Hold on to all those who keep him alive in your hearts, minds and spirit.
    Remember who you are‼️
    For eternity ♾

  5. Jane Garvin says:

I was so sorry to hear about Terry. I remember his smile, how quiet he was, and how thrilled we all were when the Green family moved into the third ward. Every last one of them were as nice as could be. I had much respect for all of the Green’s. I came over to attend the funeral. We had business in Show Low and had trouble with the truck there and had to see a mechanic twice. It put us so late getting back that the service was over by the time we arrived back in Mesa.
My heart goes out to you Rhea and to your family. Terry was a good man! May you feel Father’s love during this most difficult time. Hugs!!!
