Obituary

Ada Mae Howe, 87, of Mesa, AZ, passed away in the comfort of her own home on February 2, 2023. Per Ada’s request, funeral services will not be held. Her final resting place will be at Oakhill Memorial Park in San Jose, California, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Charles V. Howe.

Ada and her twin sister, Ida, were born at home in Arma, Kansas, delivered by two of their favorite aunts, Ida and Mae, to Walter and Ethel (Hay) Hartshorn, on May 10th, 1935. They both attended high school in Arma. Ada was an avid softball player and both girls enjoyed participating in the school band. Ada loved fishing with her grandfather, Peter Hay, and had many fond memories of spending time on his farm.

Ada married Charles V. Howe and they resided in San Jose, California. Ada retired from a long and interesting career working at IBM; first in assembly and manufacturing to working in litigation traveling the county.

Ada is preceded in death by her father and mother, Walter and Ethel, and twin sister, Ida O’Connor, as well as by four additional siblings who passed at very young age.

Ada is survived by her daughter, Marlene Eichhorn, son Charles V. Howe, Jr., grandchildren John C. Eichhorn, Sarah L. Salado, Matthew T. Eichhorn, Lisa M. Eichhorn, Charles V. Howe III, and great-grandchildren Deaglan, Braedyn, Caiden, and Kynlee.

Ada will always be remembered as a loving daughter and sister, considered everyone’s mother and grandmother, a good neighbor, a kind and considerate friend, full of life, a good seamstress, and a great cook known for her Apple Pandowdy!
