Obituary
Alfred “Al” Chenot, 83, of Apache Jct., AZ passed away at the Apache Jct. Health Care Center on July 28, 2023.
Born October 25, 1939 to Homer and Lola Chenot of Arvada, CO. He was the second child and son in the family of four siblings. The family moved to Morrison, CO about 1951. Wonderful and lasting friendships developed while growing up in Morrison. He graduated from Bear Creek High School in 1959. He liked fast cars, playing the guitar and singing ballads and the older Country Music tunes. He hiked and explored around Red Rocks, Mt. Falcon, the Hogback and surrounding areas of Morrison. Looking for and collecting arrowheads was one of his favorite pastimes while growing up in Morrison. Al met his future wife while working on the construction of the Planetarium at Adams State College in Alamosa, CO. Al and Lynne A. Sabin married on January 25,1964. Together they raised their two children Marla and Andrew. After living in numerous states, they settled and retired in Apache Jct. For Al, life was an adventure waiting to happen. He enjoyed the outdoors, eating a good hamburger with cheddar cheese and a slice of green chili, and taking camping trips in their RV to escape the hot summer months in Arizona. As a Christian man, Al enjoyed reading and studying the Bible. He always remembered to pray for his family and friends. He admired the beauty of nature and loved and respected animals of all kinds. In his last days he would lovingly smile as he told stories about his cat, Smokey. Al was gifted in music, art, and writing. He was also a great storyteller. He loved playing his guitar and singing. His artwork has been admired by many, his music and writings an inspiration. Preceded in death by his parents Homer and Lola Chenot, wife Lynne, and brother Arlen. Survived by his two children Marla Mayfield and Andrew Chenot; sisters Cathy Walsh (Mike), and Cheri Gee; sister-in-law Susie Chenot; five nephews, and four nieces. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
No services are planned. Cremation will be handled by A Wise Choice Cremation and Funeral Services, Mesa, AZ.
