Obituary

Andrew D. Wasmundt, Sr., 85, passed away on September 9, 2019, at the Banner Heart Hospital in Mesa, Arizona.  He was born to Louis and Selma Wasmundt in Portage County, Wisconsin in 1934.  Andrew graduated from the Apostolic Bible Institute, St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1956.  He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.

In May of 1958, Andrew met Shirley Howell on a blind date, and they were married January 31, 1959, in Hammond, Indiana, at which time he was pastoring in Viola, Wisconsin.  Their 60 plus years of marriage was blessed with two daughters, Pamela (Steiner), of Rayne, Louisiana, and Sandra (Morgan), of Queen Creek, Arizona; two sons, Andrew Jr., of Aurora, Colorado, and Nathan of Mesa, Arizona.

Andrew loved his 17 grandchildren: Amanda (Steiner) Maturin, Ryan & Kevin Steiner, Megan (Steiner)Ebarb, Melissa (Morgan) Compton, Brandon Morgan (deceased), Anthony & Michael Morgan, Veronica (Wasmundt) Reynolds, Nick, Alex, Sammy, Adrianna & Victoria Wasmundt and Ava, Remy & Aria Wasmundt.  In addition to the Grands, there were 9 Great-Grandchildren he treasured:  Preston, Madeline & Cohen Steiner, Zariah, Micah & Ryder Compton, and Bentley, Gentry & Grayson Ebarb.

During the 60 years of marriage, Andrew pastored in Viola, WS, Oshkosh, WS, Lincoln, IL and Lincoln, NE.   Most of his pastorate was in Lincoln, NE.   After 32 years as pastor, he resigned pastoring in Lincoln, NE., on October 19, 2001, and received a Declaration of Andrew D. Wasmundt Day, signed by Mayor Don Wesely.  He received a Milestone Certificate for 60 years in Ministry, as well as an Order of Melchizedek Award Medal .

A Memorial Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2019, 1:00PM, at the Phoenix Revival Center, 2101 West Encanto Blvd., Phoenix, AZ., 85009.   In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Global Missions, at the United Pentecostal Church Int’l, Weldon Spring, MO.  (UPCI.org)

  2. So many memories shared of Uncle Andy! As our pastor he ministered to us, performed our wedding, and dedicated two of our children to the Lord. As our uncle he was always a friend and we enjoyed having a great conversation together. We will meet him in glory some day! Love from Steve and Mary.
