Obituary
Anselmo “Jake” Jacobo Jr., 81 long-time resident of Mesa, Arizona, passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side on the 21st of May 2014.
Jake was born, February 17, 1933 to Anselmo and Maria Jacobo in Casa Grande, Arizona. Jake graduated from Casa Grande Union High School in 1953; AllState Player 1952, State Championship football 1950, and a member of Boys State.
Jake proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and while stationed at the Marine Air Division in Opa Locka, Florida, he met his future wife Betty Casey. Jake spent his career working for Eastern Airlines where he was recognized by Captain E.V. “Eddie” Rickenbacker for winning a writing contest with over 15,000 contestants. Jake eventually relocated to Mesa, Arizona where he was employed by Salt River Project for 22 years until his retirement in 1989.
Jake is survived by his wife of 58 years; Betty Casey Jacobo, children; John Jacobo, Rose Barton, and David Jacobo, 10 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
Jake was a kind hearted soul, forming friendships with everyone he met and his willingness to help others was an inspiration to those around him. Jakes greatest contribution was to invest time and money into the people of his community. Jake had a fascination for aviation, loved being on the water, and enjoyed panning for gold in his spare time.
Per Jake’s request, a service will not be held, but instead a celebration of life will be held amongst his family and close friends during the first week of August 2014.
