Carrie Grief

Obituary

Carrie Angela Grief (née Criswell) passed away on March 20th, 2021 in Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 67. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 10th, 1953 to Craig Criswell and Grace Lankford (née Kingsbury).

She grew up as an “army brat”, traveling around the world with her family until she graduated high school in El Paso, TX. She then went on to pursue many different career options all over the southwest, most notably being a flight attendant for 19 years based in Arizona, where she settled for the rest of her life, and where she also helped those who suffered from mental health and addiction as an employee counsellor. She was a believer in Jesus Christ and volunteered often at her church.

Carrie was a vibrant and social personality. After her youngest daughters started doing theater, she discovered a love for costuming and proceeded to fill theaters around the Valley with her vibrant costumes. She loved traveling to her very core. She was always willing to go on any trip with any of her friends, just as long as you gave her time to pack. And while, in her own words, she couldn’t “carry a tune in a bag”, that never stopped her from blasting out Roxanne at karaoke with her friends.

She is survived by her husband Dan Grief; children Sara Haselhuhn, Gregor Cockayne, Jodie Grief and Danie Grief; mother Grace Lankford; sisters Cheryl Criswell and Christina Criswell Skillin; and grandchildren Carter Haselhuhn, Beckett Haselhuhn and Conner Cockayne. She was preceded in death by her father Craig Criswell. She was a strong believer, and the family takes relief in knowing that she is no longer in pain and is with her Heavenly Father.

Due to COVID-19 there will not be any services, a celebration of life will be held sometime later.
