Dolores Ann Zimmerman, born November 5, 1935, in Peekskill, NY, passed away peacefully at Lund Home Hospice on January 4, 2022 in Gilbert, AZ.
Dolores was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Allen “Gus” Zimmerman and son James M. Zimmerman, her parents Camillo and Augusta Bondatti, and her brother, Camillo “Miller” Bondatti.
Dolores leaves behind her three children, Kevin P. Zimmerman, Kathleen Z. Leeds, Eric J. Zimmerman,
nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her much loved sisters, Maryann
Schlotter Bondatti, Linda Midla Sapp and Carol Bondatti Bogdanowitz.
A loving wife and mother, Dolores resided in Garrison, NY with her family for many years raising her children
and enjoying life in the country. One of my most cherished memories is picking berries and grapes and
bringing them home for mom to make jams and jellies.
After retirement, Dolores lived in Cambridge, NY with Gus, spending time with her mother and father and helping in her sister Maryann’s sewing shop in the village. They also spent time traveling around the country in their RV,
visiting her children and sight-seeing in many states in the US.
After relocating to Gilbert, AZ to be near her daughter, Dolores enjoyed painting, drawing, sewing, quilting
and photography. She was quite talented, sewing clothes and costumes for her grandchildren and creating
beautiful quilts for family and friends. She graced her home with many lovely paintings and photographs
Dolores was a beautiful soul and will be missed terribly by those who love her. But I know there was
rejoicing at her arrival in heaven and I’m sure they had a glorious family reunion.
A memorial service is planned for Spring of this year and an announcement will be made at that time.
She will be laid to rest in the National Memorial Cemetary of Arizona alongside her husband.
