Obituary

Don (Donald Holmes Fluckiger), beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Florence, Arizona, on April 27, 2026, at age 48. He battled Corticobasal Degeneration bravely for 7 years, with his devoted wife, Colleen, by his side.

He was born on July 18, 1977, in Emmett, Idaho, to Ward and Jean Fluckiger. He was the third child and eldest son in a large, loving family.

Don graduated from Mountain Crest High School in Hyrum, Utah, in 1996. There, he met his tight-knit group of friends and developed a love for marching band, where his natural rhythm and energy shone. Anyone who knew Don knew he was rarely without a beat and would drum on literally anything – tables, steering wheels, countertops, his legs – much to the amusement of those around him. With his friends, he also shared a love of golf and could be found on a green with his family whenever time permitted.

He served a faithful mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in California (San Bernardino) from 1997 to 1999. He had the joy of working in the mission office, where he was exposed to accounting and loved maintaining the mission car fleet.

Don married the love of his life, Colleen Stevens, on June 7, 2002, in the Jordan River Temple. Their beautiful life together was built on faith, laughter, hard work, and a deep devotion to each other.

Don received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah and his MBA from Utah State University. He and Colleen built their own accounting/tax practice, called 2 Nerdy Accountants. His clients didn’t just value his expertise; they genuinely adored him for his kindness, integrity, and the way he truly cared about their success and well-being.

Don’s greatest pride and joy were his 6 children and his pure, selfless love for “his Colleen” whom he fiercely loved. There was no better husband or father. He poured his heart into his family, always making time to listen, laugh, teach, play, and support each one of them. His wife and children know without a doubt how deeply they were loved.

He is survived by his wife, Colleen; his children, Jace (21), Clara (19), Meaghann (15), Austan (12), Kelli (10), and Casey (7); his parents, Ward and Jean Fluckiger; his siblings: Rosalee (Chad) Sanderson, Calpurna (Taryl) Norris, Keneth (Paula) Fluckiger, John Fluckiger (Anitra Atchison), Amy (Vonn) Holyoak, and Tonya Fluckiger (Sean Cox); and many in-laws, nieces and nephews who loved and adored him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Joseph and Doris Holmes, and Don and Wanda Fluckiger.
