Obituary

Dorothea Mae Shanafelt Koska, 89, passed November 13, 2020 at her home in Apache Junction, AZ. Dottie was born at the home of her parents, Lloyd and Ella Hill, in E. St. Louis, IL on February 15, 1931, fourth of five children.
Dottie and her husband Alvin J Koska (May 1952) raised two daughters, Susan and Gayle in Belleville, IL. The family enjoyed family get togethers, water sports, traveling as well as many outdoor activities.
After retiring as an Air Force Procurement Specialist, she and Al spent time traveling full time, settling in Buena Vista CO. Here they enjoyed entertaining visits of family and friends, exploring four wheel drive access mountain roads and quilting.
Dottie spent her widowed years in AZ, teaching and expanding her quilting experiences.
Left to carry on Dottie’s love of the outdoors are her daughter Susan (John Browning) grandchildren Nathan (Dawn) Rachels and Ben (Maggie) Sarah and Sam Browning and adored great grands Ellie and Caroline Browning, brother Mervin Shanafelt (Springfield MO) niece Janet (Rich) Laidlaw and nephew Steve Shanafelt.
No services are planned. Her body was cremated per her wishes.
