Obituary
John Michael Archer (Mike) 65, born in 1956 in Elmhurst Illinois, passed away at home in Mesa Arizona, Dec. 25, 2021. Loving husband to Diane Kay London Archer, son Jonathan, daughter Nicole Sharp, grandsons Justice John Archer, Kaiden Cooper Swytak; granddaughter Abigail Sharp, great granddaughter Kaialani Rae Archer. Preceded in death by parents Herman and Faith Archer (Bethley), brothers Bill, Tom, Ralph and Jim Archer, and sister Bonnie Emrich (Archer). In addition, Mike had a wonderful influence on his nieces, nephews, brother in law and sisters in law as well as lifelong friends.
After graduating in 1974 from York High School in Elmhurst, IL and subsequently Southern IL University in 1978 as an aeronautical engineer, he moved to California to work at Hughes Aircraft which was later bought out by McDonnell Douglas. Subsequently, in 1984 McDonnell Douglas merged with Boeing and Mike was transferred to Mesa Arizona in 1985. Boeing, by then was the world’s largest aerospace company. Mike worked for over 30 years in the aerospace industry and had an integrated part of the Apache Helicopter design for which he was very proud.
He retired in 2015 and enjoyed the company of his loving wife Diane traveling and spending time cooking, grilling and being creative with new recipes. Mike loved all sports especially following his favorite teams the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He and Diane were active members of the Buckhorn Elks Lodge. His smile, laugher and friendship will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him.

My deepest condolences! Mike was a very dear friend for about 35 years. We met at McDonnell Douglas in Mesa in 1986. There are countless special memories to share including a recent trip to Hohokem Park in Mesa to see the Chicago Cubs. He will be missed. God Bless his family. RIP Mike

My deepest heartfelt condolences! Always enjoyed working with Mike in the “lab.” He always had a smile, was easygoing, and always enjoyed sharing a laugh.
Glad he was able to retire earlier than most and enjoy time with loved ones.
