Obituary

Juan Mecillas Jr, 71, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at home, surrounded by his family.

Juan was born on October 8, 1947 in Cimarron, New Mexico to Juan and Carmen (Medina) Mecillas.

Juan enjoyed doing projects in his garage. He was always there for anyone who needed help with anything. Before he was medically disabled he worked in construction. Woodworking was his passion. He also loved the Denver Broncos; he bled orange and blue. His collection of model cars was the only thing that could rival his Broncos memorabilia.

Juan loved his family and he would do anything he could for them, especially his grandchildren.

Juan is survived by his wife, Gina (Jaurigui) Mecillas of Mesa, AZ; his son, Juan Mecillas III (Heather) of Muscadine, Alabama; his daughters, Marie Christine (Mecillas) Mau (David) of Mesa, AZ and Kovi (Mau) Tuipulotu (Johnny) of Mesa, AZ; his granddaughters, Gina Marie Niko of San Tan Valley, AZ, Ana Seilala Mau of Mesa, AZ, Gabriela Marie Mecillas of Auburn, AL, Tayah Tuipulotu of Mesa, AZ, Lana Tuipulotu of Mesa, AZ, and Sydney Tuipulotu of Mesa, AZ; his grandsons, Zechariah T. Eason of Muscadine, AL, Micah Isaiah Eason of Muscadine, AL, and Kingston Tuipulotu of Mesa, AZ; his mother, Carmen (Medina) Mecillas of Wattenburg, CO; four brothers; and two sisters.

Juan was preceded in death by his daughter, Ramona Louise Mecillas; his father, Juan Mecillas; and his brother, Frederico Mecillas.

There will be a memorial service for Juan at 11:00am on Friday, June 14, 2019 at A Wise Choice – Desert View Chapel, 9702 East Apache Trail, Mesa, Arizona 85207.
