Louella Mae Stock Miller, 86 of Mesa Arizona, passed away May 30, 2023. She had been a resident of AZ for 7 years. Lou, who was known to her family as Poo, was born July 12, 1936 at the family farm in Butler county Iowa near Dumont to Earl and Effie Stock. She was the youngest of seven children. She grew up in Hampton, IA and was a 1954 graduate of Hampton high school. In September of 1955, she married Jerry K Miller of Hampton at the Little Brown Church in the Vale near Nashua, IA. They lived in the Miller family home in Hampton from 1958 until their 2016 move to Arizona.
Lou loved being a mom to their children Denise & Rex, and later, grandma Poo to Wes & Lydia. She worked for Maytag Corp in Hampton for seventeen years, retiring in 1986 following the closing of the plant. In retirement, Louella enjoyed her ladies card groups, the Red Hat Society, and tea room adventures. In 1972, Lou and Jerry purchased a lake home at Holiday Lake near Brooklyn, IA. Many happy summer days at the lake with kids and grandkids, family and friends filled the years. Louella was a wonderful cook and made countless delicious pies from the apples and cherries from the trees in their yard. Right up until her passing, Lou enjoyed a great game of cribbage with family. She was a long time member of the United Methodist Church of Hampton, a wonderful aunt, sister and good friend to many.
She is survived by her son Rex (Janet) currently of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, grandchildren Wes Miller, San Jose, CA and Lydia Miller, San Diego, CA, sister Carol Miller (Richard), Mesa AZ, sisters in law Betty Fink and Pat Stock, niece Sheryle Holm, Mesa AZ along with many more nieces and nephews. Louella was proceeded in death by her beloved husband Jerry and daughter Denise, her parents and five of her siblings; Maxine, Francis, Dilman & Lowell Stock and Virginia Stock Rogers.
No funeral service is planned. Interment in Hampton will occur at a later date.
