Obituary

Ronald Craig Trout

September 17, 1935 – January 15, 2024

Ronald Trout was born on September 17, 1935 in Los Angeles, California, to Wharton and Mildred Trout.

Ron’s childhood was spent in California and Missouri.  After high school he served with the U.S. Air Force for four years as an Airborne Communication Specialist.  For the next 35 years he was a Quality Engineer with the Department of Defense and then worked in the private sector for 10 years before retiring.

Ron married Imogene Owens in 1955 and they had three sons, Chris, Scott, and Trent, who were primarily raised in Arizona.  Ron remarried in 1983 to Nancy Ernestine Trout and they spent many happy years together until her death in 2021.  During their marriage Ron’s job took them to Las Cruces New Mexico, Omaha Nebraska, Reston Virginia, Chandler Arizona and Tucson Arizona.  In 2000 Ron and Nancy retired to Las Cruces, New Mexico where they were both active at St Paul’s United Methodist Church.  Deciding they would like to be closer to family, they moved to Gold Canyon, Arizona in 2007.

Ron was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hiking and hunting, particularly in New Mexico and Arizona.  Ron hiked the Grand Canyon rim to rim, Havasupai Falls, Flatiron, Kendrick Peak, and Picketpost.  Ron shared his love of hiking with others, leading group hikes in the Superstition Mountains.

Ron was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years Nancy Trout, parents Wharton and Mildred Trout, and son Christopher Trout.  Ron is survived by two sons, Scott Trout (Joanne) and Trent Trout, two stepsons, Curtis Brock and Timothy Brock (Holly), and granddaughters Brenna Trout and Kasey Trout.

Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, always making others feel welcome, and he would want us to remember him with joy rather than grief.
