Obituary
Terri Jo Scott, 64, of Apache Junction, Arizona, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness at her home, leaving behind immense sadness and a legacy filled with love, laughter, strength, and joy.
Terri was born on August 21, 1961, in Casper, Wyoming. She was the cherished daughter of Patricia “Patsy” (James) Dunn and John Mathisen, a beloved sister to Pam (Brad) Nothnagel, a devoted mother to Shaila (Cody) Harris, and a loving “Memaw” to her treasured grandson, Wyatt Harris. She also leaves behind four nieces and three nephews who were dear to her heart.
Known for her kindness and gentle, sweet spirit, Terri deeply loved her Lord and Savior. She found comfort and peace in reading her Bible daily and faithfully serving at her church. Her faith guided her life and touched everyone she met.
Terri had a creative soul and found great joy in drawing animals with pencils and charcoal, painting with acrylics, and crafting. She loved riding her Palomino horse and traveling up the West Coast with her sister and brother-in-law.
She adored animals and shared her life with so many but most recently, her devoted emotional support dog, who misses her immensely.
She attended Bennett High School before earning her GED and later pursued higher education, proudly earning a certificate in Forensic Science at the age of 48 — a testament to her determination and lifelong love of learning. Throughout her life, Terri held many jobs, including working as a receptionist at the Tri-County Health Department, but her favorite role was serving as a Kennel Attendant for Aurora Animal Control, where her love for animals truly shined.
Above all else, Terri’s greatest joy and fulfillment came from being a mother and, most recently, a Memaw. Her love for her family knew no bounds.
Terri was preceded in death by her mother, Patsy Dunn; her fathers, James Dunn and John Mathisen; and her nephew, Justin Stone.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Christ Church of the Valley on March 3rd at 3:00 PM, with a reception following at 5:00 PM at the Saguaro Canyon Village Clubhouse.
Terri will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her warmth, compassion, faith, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
