Obituary

William Raymond Imgrund, 90, of Mesa, AZ passed away on March 31, 2023 with his family by his side. Bill was born in Brainerd, MN on August 24,1932 to Ernest Louis Imgrund and Margaret Lillian (Johnson) Imgrund.

After graduating from high school, Bill traveled to Colorado for several months to work with a surveying crew. From there he joined the Navy and served his country for four years aboard two different ships. After being discharged from the Navy he returned to Brainerd and trained to become a Dental Lab Technician.

On June 21,1958 Bill married his sweetheart, Shirley Anne Stuneck and they went on to raise five children; Stephen, Diane, Louis, Daniel and Jennifer. In 1964 he moved his family from Brainerd to Ashland, WI where he established his own Dental Lab business.

Bill had many hobbies throughout his life including being an avid tennis player and golfer. He also enjoyed playing pool, cards and ping pong, skiing, making jewelry, solving crossword puzzles and in his younger years, hunting and fishing. His pool shooting skills were so well-honed that he was often referred to as Minnesota Fats by his friends. Bill also loved to share stories of his days in the Navy with his family, as well as with his fellow service men. He was always learning in any way he could and enjoyed figuring out the perfect way to do just about anything. With his kind and gentle demeanor, he also found great joy in teaching his children how to do all of the things he loved as well as giving them the gentle nudge they needed in order to help them follow their passions in life. Bill was a well-respected businessman within the community and ran his business successfully until he retired in 2001.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert and Raymond and by his son, Stephen.

Bill is survived by Shirley, his wife of 64 years; his children, Diane (Patrick) Dooley, Louis, Daniel and Jennnifer (Jason) Bergmann; grandchildren, Carly, Erin, Paul, Sophie, Landon, Lyndsie and Chloe; great-grandchildren, Lexi, Kylie, Leah, Gavin, Eden, Roman, Holland and Margot; brother, Richard Imgrund; sisters, Lois Brandl and Jean Wolfarth.

A memorial service will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN at a later date.
