Robert (Bob) Edward Zimmerman, age 81, died peacefully at his home in Mesa, AZ surrounded by his family on February 11, 2018. He succumbed to his 5 year struggle with vascular dementia.

He is survived by his wife Connie; his children Greg  Zimmerman of Portland, OR, Kathleen (Scott) Mcleod of Glen Ellen, CA, Tom Zimmerman of Sioux Falls, SD and Mary Pat (Ross) Sullivan of St. Helena, CA; his step-children Steve (Lynda) Ewing of Pipestone, MN, Tom (Heather) Ewing of Chandler, AZ, John Ewing of Sioux Falls, SD and Susan (Rob) Larson of Woodinville, WA; his brother Gary (Cory) Zimmerman  of Scottsdale, AZ and his seven grandchildren. Bob was born on September 12, 1936 in Minneapolis, MN. The Zimmerman family later moved to Sioux Falls, SD where he attended Mark Twain grade school. Connie and Bob’s friendship began at Washington High School in the awesome class of ’54. On December 31, 1974, Bob and Connie began their 43 years together in Pipestone, MN, where Bob owned Wilson’s menswear and The Other Place women’s clothing stores. The fall of 1984 found them in sunny Arizona where he sold real estate for Coldwell Banker and then worked for America West/US Air selling vacation packages, until his retirement. To keep busy after retirement, he worked in the archive department of The National Bank of Arizona.  Bob enjoyed walleye fishing trips to Northern Minnesota, golf (both playing and watching), photographing nature, old barns and farmhouses. He took pride in his knowledge of computers and technology, and was an all-around handy man.
